    Installing an Excella STX scanner

    Follow

    EXCELLA STX Install

    Step 1

Download the Excella STX scanner driver from this link: Excella STX Driver, API, and Demo

-Run the ‘Setup.exe’ option in the downloaded file

-Next through all the installer options, nothing special has to be done here

Note: Even if you are planning on having this device connected as an Ethernet scanner, you must keep the scanner plugged in with the USB cord until instructed to change the cord in Step 3.

-Next Open up the ‘Demo Program

-You can open this by going to Start>All Programs>MagTek>Excella-STX-ImageSafe>Demo Program

-Next select the drop down list and select ‘STX.STX001’ and press ‘Connect’

-Note: If STX.STX001 is not in the list then it is most likely configured as RNDIS already and this step can be skipped.  Proceed to Step 2.

-Next Select Utility>Set Entry Sensor/USB Driver (STX Only)

-Next Select the radio button ‘RNDIS’ and click ‘Configure

-Power cycle the scanner by unplugging and plugging it back in

    Step 2

-Next run the ‘Ethernet USB Configuration Tool’

    -Start>All Programs>MagTek>Excella-STX-ImageSafe>Utilites>Ethernet USB Configuration Tool

The settings should be set as following:

    IP Address (Device Side): 192.168.160.2

    Subnet: 255.255.255.0

    Excella Device: STX_USB

    -Select ‘Apply

-You should get two messages that will pop up

The first will look like this:

    -Press OK on this message

-The next message should look like this:

-This is normal, press OK on this message as well

-Reset the device by un-plugging and plugging the device in

-To test if everything worked, pull up a command prompt and ping 192.168.160.5 and then ping 192.168.160.2.  These both must ping in order for the setup to be correct.

-If this device is connected to the workstation via USB, you are finshed setting up the device, now it’s time to make sure CDPTeller’s settings are correctly set.

If this device is going to be connected via an Ethernet cord, proceed to step 3.

    For CDPTeller:

    Open CDPCentral>Tools>Setup>*Password*>Scanners Tab

    Make sure ‘STX_USB(STX)’ is selected

    For CDPeTeller:

-Locate the ‘CDP Receiver e-Teller’ in the system tray

You are now finished installing you Excella STX scanner via USB connection

Step 3 and step 4 are for connecting as Ethernet only

-Once the STX’s web page is up choose configuration on the left handside

-Go to the Ethernet tab.  Input the appropriate IP Address/Subnet/Gateway [something that fits the network schema of the workstation], and select ‘Save Settings’.

-Next cycle the power on the scanner by un-plugging and plugging the scanner’s power back in.

-You can now unplug your USB cord and plug the Ethernet cord into the scanner.   Finally ping it to make sure the PC can communicate with the device.

    Step 4

-Now we need to change a file configuration for the final step in the process or setting the device up as Ethernet

    -Locate a filed name ‘micrdev.ini

-This file can be located here: C:\Windows

-Open this file up and make sure the ‘ConnectionString’ is set to the IP address you assigned the scanner

    -Save the file

-Now we will need to make sure CDPTeller’s settings are set for this newly installed device

Your Excella STX scanner is now setup via Ethernet

There is a video here that can be downloaded and watched.  This video is for configuring it with an IP Address on the network.  NOTE:  RNDIS configuration doesn't work with windows 8 or 10.

This video is primarily intended for CDP Support staff.  If it is necessary to view the video teamviewer should be installed: Teamviewer_Installer
